Family of Carlee Russell says ‘she was not in a good state’ upon return home
The family of an Alabama woman who returned home over the weekend after vanishing for more than 48 hours spoke in an interview with the TODAY Show.
“We tried to hug her as best we could, but I had to stand back because she was not in a good state. So we had to stand back and let medical professionals work with her,” her mother said in the interview.
Carlee Russell, 25, returned home home on foot Saturday night after vanishing Thursday night. Hoover 911 received a call from Russell stating she saw a male toddler in a diaper on the interstate near the John Hawkins Parkway exit. The family told investigators that they lost contact with Carlee, but the phone line remained open.
When police arrived, they found Russell’s car and belongings, but there was no sign of her or a toddler. Russell’s family said they believed the toddler was used as bait to lure her out of her vehicle.
