The child’s mother, Aaliyah Jack, is now facing a murder charge in his death. Four-year-old Legend’s body was discovered in the choppy waters behind the Louisiana Welcome Center Monday afternoon. After getting a call from a family member, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office tracked Jack to Meridian, Mississippi, where she was arrested. After Jack was found without her other son, 1-year-old Kingtrail, deputies began searching the area for him and alerted other agencies to be on the lookout. A truck driver spotted Kingtrail on the side of I-10 East, not far from where Legend’s body was found.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Stitch Guillory called Kingtrail a “miracle baby,” as he had survived two days in a ditch.
Jack faces charges of second-degree murder, cruelty to juveniles and two counts of failure to report a missing child.
